You cannot fix Facebook. You can only legislate to minimise its damage and create ethical alternatives to it that are everyday things owned and controlled by everyday people.

Same goes for Google, etc.

Oh, Facebook’s pretty big government actually. Ditto, Google, etc. They just happen to be monarchies where you don’t have a vote.
@Aral Balkan I completely agree, but I'd go even a step further since so many companies start with a good incentive/purpose, but then end up as an entity that cares mainly about profits. "Don't be evil" was Googles Motto, Facebook wants to "connect the world" - so we have to look at what makes companies behave like that... that's why I love @TROM so much, because it focuses on trade as the core problem. It's like a force that pushes people to lie/steal/cheat etc.
